On the night of March 5, 1770, a mob of American colonists grouped together outside of the Customs House in Boston and began calling out the British soldiers guarding the building and started insulting them. The protesters were protesting the inhabitation of their city by British troops. Captain Thomas Preston of the 29th Regiment soon ordered his men to get their bayonets and join the guard outside the building ready to combat the protestors. Soon after, it is mentioned that the soldiers acted aggressively to the colonist behavior. The colonists responded by throwing snowballs at the British soldiers, which caused a conflict to occur and led to the harm to a few soldiers. These events eventually caused them to discharge their rifles and attack the crowd. These led to the death and major injuries to many of the protestors.

Soon after beginning the quarrel, the colonists responded by throwing snowballs and holding their weapons at the British soldiers, which supposedly caused harm to a soldier or more, and believing that a command to fire was given, started attacking the protestors (Thomas Preston states that he never gave the command to fire). These event eventually lead to the death and major injuries to many of the protestors.

Both the accounts given are similar in most aspects in that protestors did group up at the Customs house, and that they caused a commotion in order to lead the soldiers outside and started verbally assaulting them. The differences of
