Key areas of the Chipotle Code of Conduct were the Ethics and Conflicts of Interest Policy, the Anti-discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Harassment Policy, and the Whistleblower Policy. These three policies are most important to the business than the others that are listed.

I found the Ethics and Conflict of Interest Policy to be a key area because it describes how Chipotle puts trust in its employees and expect them to be truthful and honest at all times. It also explains how good judgment can help avoid conflicts and who employees can consult with when they don’t know what to do in a particular situation. Honesty is a trait in which all businesses strive to be built on. Therefore all employees should be honest and trustworthy.

The Anti-discrimination, Harassment and Sexual Harassment Policy is also a key area in Chipotle’s Code of Conduct. It states that Chipotle does not discriminate against any employee in regards to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status, or genetic information. An employee must feel that they are being treated equally and fairly at all times. Harassment and sexual harassment should not be tolerated in any workplace. As the Chipotle Code of Conduct stated, harassment creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment, and interferes with the individual’s work performance.

Lastly, the Whistleblower Policy is a key area because it allows employees to report any concerns or violations of Chipotle’s Code of Conduct. This can be done in confidentially. This helps an employee who is afraid to approach a member of management face to face and report a problem or issue. Also knowing that the situation will be handled in a professional, fair and timely manner will also help the employee overcome any issues with reporting a violation.
