A bank teller, Jack Harvey was confronted by a man with a pistol who demanded all the cash that’s available in the teller’s cage. Harvey responded immediately by inserting all the money available the teller into a paper bag, the robber took the money and drove away from the bank. Right after that moment, Harvey sounded the alarm and went after the robber by himself, he forced him to stop, and chased him on foot. It turned out that he successfully caught the robber, get all the money back, and able to hold the bandit until the local police arrive, even though he was shot in the leg.

The goal of the investigation is to justify and decide whether or not Harvey should be discharged from his job, as he has misconducted one of the written rules of the bank. According to the banking law, Harvey was not supposed to go after the robber, rather he is supposed to stay and wait until the police come to control the situation.

In order to reach the goal of this investigation, first, bank personnel will interview Harvey about the detail of the event. In advance, a series of question is designed to help interviewer to identify the motives behind his action, his previous knowledge of the bank’s rules as well as his supporting personal statements or additional information of the incident. This questionnaire will help bank personnel to understand the situation and how the perceiver ( Harvey ) has encountered the situation. Secondly, these evidences will be taken into account for discussion by the bank president and bank personnel. The outcome of this negotiation will be the justified the corporate decision to decide whether or not Jack Harvey should be expelled.
