Why I want a career in massage therapy

I want a career in massage therapy because I believe massage helps people in healing their body without medicine. When I was 14 my mom was diagnosed with diabetic neuropolthy and was in so much pain all she did was lay in bed a cry. I remember the one thing that helped her cope with the pain was when I would massage her feet and legs, just seeing how my touch would help my mom with the pain and to see her stop crying made me want to do this all day every day just so she would not cry. So this sparked something in me to want to help make people feel better. Currently I love in the 1000 islands and my mom is back home in a nursing home in Schenectady. She suffered a stroke in October of 2012 and has been in a nursing home since, I want to move back to Albany join a massage school and visit my mom and help her with some massage techniques. I know massage therapy will not cure my mom and her disabiltites now but it will allow us to bond again and to see her feel better again. Massage therapy is such a hands on job that allows you to connect with people and help make them feel rejuvenated again, and by seeing people feel better makes me feel better, knowing that I helped them is all I need.

I want a career in massage therapy because I believe we can heal our own bodies from injuries by receiving massage without taking medications.
