Systems Consideration in HRIS 1

1. Use the Internet to research and evaluate two (2) commercial HR database systems for your organization. Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each system and, based on your knowledge of human resources and database systems, propose one (1) package that would fit the needs of your organization. Suggest three (3) specific reasons why you would recommend that system over the other.

Human Resources play a vital role in all businesses. “Businesses who participate in their Human Resource departments, typically obtain the rewards of talented employees, loyalty, and improved productivity among other things” (Kavanagh & Thite, 2009). With that being said, when deciding upon a HR database system for an organization, ensuring the database system will exceed the needs of the business is crucial for success. MyHRIS from NuView and HRIS-PRO are two commercial HR database systems that will be extremely beneficial to the business. Access to basic personal information such as pay, benefits, time and attendance, training, and career development can be accessed in this system. The outcomes remain conscious and connected to current information in the HR database. In accumulation, further than 200 report templates stand available. One advantage that sets this information system apart from others is the available module for applicants. “Applicants can create, track requisitions, scan resumes, call up standard interview questions and send out standard response letters (Meade, p. 129). This is extremely rare in HRIS products. MyHRIS is truly web-native. There are no special software add-ons to see data.

NewView systems hosts the application for the organization so there is no software or hardware needed at the organizations site (Meade, 2000).

Both of these information systems ensure prodigious features. While I was not able to find any negative drawbacks but the HRIS-Pro the cost was cheaper than MyHRIS. In addition, the vender owns all of the software associated with the information system as it is strictly web-based.
