What information should be in the progress notes?

As I read The Internship, Practicum, and Field Placement Handbook textbook I have become more understanding of the importance of being understanding of cultures that are different from my own. I come from a culture in which being respectful of your parents is requirement and if you were to disrespect your parents there would be consequences, most likely a privilege taken away or being spanked. As such I grew up with a mix of awe, respect, and slight fear of my parents. At my current practicum site I have been astounded with the way that the majority of clients speak to and treat their parents and even more shocked by the lack of response their parents give them. Every single day a client is cursing, screaming, or insulting their parents during process groups, family counseling sessions, or even publicly while their parents are dropping them off and picking them up. Although I’ve become used to it has taken me awhile to remove all traces of shock from my face every time I witness such disrespect. What makes it worse is that the parents simply allow themselves to be the target of abuse and fail to reprimand their children.

During my facilitation of psychoeducational groups I have tried to become more outspoken and assertive but lately the clients are refusing to complete speak up during groups, asking to be excused, playing on their cell phones, and many are just absent for the day. I find it difficult to facilitate a group with very few clients, most of whom are unwilling to participate in group discussions. I am trying to think of new group activities and ideas so that I can hopefully change the atmosphere and dynamics of the groups.

My supervisor and I are still having miscommunication. If I may speak frankly I am finding it difficult to work with. She seems to be emotionally unstable, ranging from being very happy, loud and excited, to suddenly being
