                      A Beginners Guide to Learning the Acoustic Guitar.

Acoustic guitars are one of the most primitive forms of the the instrument.They are an

object of absolute amazement.The acoustic guitar requires no electrical connections  

unlike the electric. It is also  one of the most popular musical instruments in the world.

Learning to play the acoustic guitar or any musical instrument  as a matter of fact

requires patience,determination and practice. But the end result is always rewarding and

fulfilling as you  will often find yourself being the centre of attention in just about any

gathering once  you have taught yourself how to play. Plus, it is one of the most

expressive instruments out there.This tutorial will cover a basic procedure of learning the

guitar. If the aforementioned points  are indeed reason enough   to convince you to pick

up an acoustic guitar then read on!

The most basic thing to do when you are first learning  to play an acoustic guitar is to

familiarize yourself with the structure and physical properties of the guitar.The

instrument is built out of wood of various kinds.It has a body,the part with the big hole

on it? this is also the widest part.The body is attached to a beautiful long neck

upon which the six strings of the guitar rest at extreme tensions. At the other end of the

neck  the headstock is situated, which has the  tuning keys.Now that you know  the

different components that make a guitar and where they are located , you can move on to

learning  how to hold the instrument. Seat yourself down on preferably a stool.Put the  

guitar on your right thigh and let right arm reach the strings as you go over the body

your left hand should be gripping  the neck very lightly.Get comfortable being in this  

posture first  because next you will be playing your very first note!

Pluck the top most string softly with your index finger. Do you hear that broad

sound? That was an E note.Notice how the guitar has six strings.At this point it is

crucial to learn the names of each string. They are “E A D G B e” from the thickest to

thinnest.This sequence of string is also the set up for the standard tuning.This means
