Journal 1: iPhone 7
The developers over at Apple have chosen to make some drastic changes to their new iPhone 7 that comes out, actually, the day this paper is due. How does this decision come about from Apple? Why do they think removing the traditional headphone jack will benefit the phone at all? The answers to these questions are something that may be a higher up in the company could tell you, but myself personally couldn’t. The thought must have passed through some higher ups head when he was casually charging his phone on the plane and listening to music with his wired headphones. Then a tiny blimp of a thought came into his head, and he thought “Wow, isn’t this just too easy?”. This opened the door for a whirlwind of new development to take away the one thing that allows you to do what you want about fifty percent of the time anyone is listening to music or vice versa. This new development hasn’t really struck home with me yet, but the idea sort of has, it’s not something that if I were in Apple’s shoes I would even attempt to do. What good could possibly come from not having a separate jack from charging the phone? This affects me actually a lot more than previously believed. To study this, I actually counted how many times while charging my phone that I was listening to music, whether it be in my car or in the library while doing homework. The times that while charging my phone I was more than likely listening to music, or the opposite situations, because it takes a lot of battery life to stream music to my phone. This iPhone is only go to make myself as a consumer want to wait until Apple comes out with an actually iPhone that has the headphone jack. The fact that Apple has essentially released the same phone three times, to only make minor upgrade changes such as, faster processor, better camera, force touch, and a little bit more water resistance. This is why so many people (including myself) are going to switch from iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy or even the Note. I know personally that I would love to switch over to the Note 7, and to never look at an iPhone again would not bother me in the slightest bit. The marketers of any sort of Apple product are clearly marketing geniuses, due to the fact that they are selling us the same product over and over again with only minor differences from the first one. This is ridiculous, and the demand for iPhones is high that I am seriously starting to wonder if there is something wrong with these Apple obsessed people. Don’t even let me start on the limited app store of any Apple product. Any Android operating system has at least two or more app stores that you could find some of the widest variety of apps on. While if you take a glance over at the iPhone’s app store you only see one basic app store. These are just some of the reasons that I would highly recommend a Samsung phone over any iPhone. To be a marketer of a brand that just keeps re releasing the same product must be a very challenging task for those marketers.
