Introduction

The purpose of this essay is to identify the culture and culture diversity in an organization and mention about how the culture diversity effect the workplace through different examples with the help of academic journal articles and what are challenges for an individual and managers to make the organisation effective and efficient. It describes how the Maslow's hierarchy of needs which come under theories of Motivation are having greater impact on culture diversity in an organisation.

Meaning

Culture in workplace means individual behaviour that characterizes the functioning organization in terms of the employee's attitudes, belief systems, value systems, work ethics, respect, autonomy.

Culture diversity in work place refers to the varieties of people found in a work environment. People of different races, genders, religions, political persuasions, competencies, training, and sexual orientations are found in any given workplace. (Organizational Behaviour 10e -Stephen P. Robbins)

Dealing with the cultural differences in workplace by Managers

When dealing with the cultural differences in the workplace make sure manager will identify embrace the difference that each staff member brings with them.it helps:-

It helps to have clear guidelines and policy regarding what is open for discussion in the work place and what is not regarding religion, age, gender.

Encouraging employees to put themselves in each other's shoes if conflict arises.

Teaching employees to embrace the assets that each individual contributes to the company by their different opinion.

Change - Organisations change over time in a variety of ways. There are a number of ways in which they might change:

From small companies to larger companies. For example, they may grow from being sole trader enterprises to partnerships and then to companies. There are two types of companies. Private companies have access to less capital because their shares are not traded on the Stock Exchange. Public companies like Cadbury Schweppes and Vodafone are substantially larger because they can raise much larger amounts of capital on the Stock Exchange.
