I found Conceptual Frameworks to be a fairly easy read, but very repetitive. After reading for awhile, I started to realized that the repetitiveness was done because the writers wanted to identify the significance of social justice and also because each term is almost directly related to the next. Social difference is such an important issue all over the world and in my mind will always be a major conflict. I think the big challenge with trying to eliminate social discrimination is because there are so many different kinds of discrimination and there are too many people discriminating that it would take such a big effort to try and stop it. Another challenge, I believe, for eliminating social discrimination is the historical context behind it. I think race and gender especially were discriminated against so long ago that our world is having a hard time accepting everyone equally because people have been stereotyping from what they heard years ago.

A section that I found very interesting was the section on social discrimination being seen in the micro level, meso level and the macro level. This section opened my mind to a whole new way of thinking about discrimination. I never really thought about discriminating being done at so many different levels of one's life. I always knew there was discriminating being done in the large scale of things but I never stopped to think that people get discriminated at all aspects of their life.

An important line in the text that stood out in my mind was, "In a situation of unequal power, a subordinate group has to focus on survival." This is so very true when it comes to living as the non-dominant group. I am somewhat privileged, being a white female in a small town, so fortunately I do not know what it's like to fight for my rights. Just thinking about how much of a struggle everyday life can be for a person with unequal rights makes me feel so hurt for those people. People who are
