1. a) I think that because he was so panicked about what had just happened and couldn't find his wife on top of that, so he was probably really worried that his wife was injured or even dead from the explosion. Any loving husband would be worried for their wife after something life threatening happened that could have a chance of injuring them. The thoughts that probably ran through his head were definitely about his wife safety; he even calls out her name to see where she is so he can help her.
b) All three phrases have to do with other peoples safety, which really shows how empathetic and caring the doctor is. The first two phrases that he says have to do with his wifes safety, and the third has to do with him tripping over something and apologizing for possibly having hurt someone but then realizing that he tripped over the head of a dead body.
2. I think that the emphasis of silence really shows how scared everyone was after the bomb dropped and how panicked and at loss of words everyone must've been. After all, no one was expecting that that day an atomic bomb would drop on their town.
3. I think that the poet uses first person point of view because then you really get to see what a person must have felt and been going through after the bomb dropped. It really makes you feel like you were in the situation yourself looking around at the remains of your town. You are also placed in the point of view of a Doctor who is concerned about the peoples safety and not just about his own so you really get to see a view of the town and how even a man who has probably seen many deaths in his career can still be at loss of words for something so traumatic like this.
5. The biggest difference between Doctors Journal Entry and Heroshima Exit is that in Doctors Journal Entry you are placed when the bomb is dropped and you get to feel and in a way see what happened but in Heroshima Exit you are there after the bomb dropped so you get a different feel for the situation.

I think the person who is giving the advice is some sort of female role model in her life, like for example an older sister or mother because the person giving the advice referred to the person she's giving the advice to as, "my young angry dear" meaning she is talking to someone who is younger than her and probably less experienced.
2.a) She calls the truth a hard precious stone because sometimes the truth can be hard to hear but the truth should be appreciated. This truth refers to how the person speaking is talking about a break up that you can't possess any who you are with and you can't be possessed by anyone you date.
