After the death of Charlemagne, his empire collapsed. Landowning nobles became more powerful, as peasants and farmers looked to them for protection. This resulted in a shift of power during the A.D. 800s from kings to nobles. This new order was feudalism. Feudalism is a political system based on bonds of loyalty between lords and vassals. Landowning nobles governed and provided protection to the people in return for services. Feudalism helped Western Europeans.Helped protect communities from violence.Restored Trade Lords gained a fighting force.Vassals received land for military service Peasants were protected by their lords Required Lords to be faithful and carry out their duties Did not allow one person to become too powerful Feudalism caused many problems for society.
Did not always unite larger regions. Not a strong central government Laws were not always enforced fairly and sometimes with violence. Lords often placed personal interests above the interest of others. No equality in society.Peasants were restricted and most were serfs who had to work as payment to the lords.
For certain areas of Europe feudalism was horrible and other places they were doing fine.If the kings would of never of fallen, and feudalism wouldn't happen many of the governments now would never exists. More of feudalism progressed it eventually fallen. Which made a better constitutional government.I got on the airplane heading towards Barcelona, on a tour guide that should be fun.
After a 12 hour flight I get off the airplane and the weather was warm and very calm. I jump on to a Hop-on Hop-off Bus, it was crowded but exciting to see the architecture around this city.
