Issues with American Society

In American society there is a plethora of problems that we face on a daily basis. Some are small and only directly affect a small percentage of society, but there are some problems that directly or indirectly affect every single American citizen in one way or another. Three problems that directly involved us all are the overt sexualization of a younger generation, the problem of child obesity, and finally the loss of American pride. Through television shows, songs, and even clothing it has become apparent that sexual themes have starting creeping into the lives of younger generations. This is a newer trend that has started in the past few years. Schools have started to notice this and ban the showing of shoulders, lower thighs, and even collarbones in some extreme cases. The issue cannot be pin pointed to one starting point or cause, but rather a collective group of events that have caused this. With the trend of sex hitting the market, it was inevitable that it would begin to fill the lives of the younger generations. This issue is one that is greatly affecting American society. Another issue growing in America is that of child obesity. America has the highest childhood obesity rate of all the countries in the world. The grotesque worship of food in American society can be found almost anywhere. Food is advertised on the radio, on tv, in magazines, on billboards. There is no real escape from the fast food fad that has swept the nation. The prices of fast food have dropped drastically compared to the price of healthier alternatives, which have continued to rise. This problem can be blamed partially on greedy food companies. After finding that they could make millions of the marketing fast food, marketers realized that they had hit a jackpot. Child obesity cannot be completely blamed on the parents, but the harsh truth of it all is that many parents grow lazy concerning their child’s health.
