Oscar Taveras was a Dominican-Canadian professional baseball player who played all 3 outfield positions, mainly center field. Growing up Oscar lived in a town called Sosua. Sosua is a small town in Puerto Plata province of the Dominican Republic. Early in life he took an interest in baseball. At about the age 5, he called himself “El Fenomeno,” which is Spanish for “The Phenomenon”.

Taveras’ father was an outfielder in minor league, Milwaukee Brewers. From the age 12 to the age 16 Taveras lived in Montreal and acquired a Canadian citizenship. At the age 16 the cardinals signed Taveras as international amateur in 2008. He batted .321 over 6 minor league seasons, with a pulling score of percentage of .519, with a powerful and smooth balanced swings Taveras successfully hit pitches outside of the strike zone. The outfielder of recipients of a good amount of rewards and won batting titles in minor leagues. The next year he won the Texas league batting titles.

Oscar Taveras died October 26, 2014 at the age 22, When hid red Chevrolet Camaro ran off the road and hit and hit a tree on Sosua Cabarete freeway. In which Taveras suffered many injuries, and was announced dead when he was receiving care at Sosua Cabarete Medical Center. Taveras’ girlfriend, Avrelos suffered head and chest injuries.

The reason that I decided to pick Oscar Taveras is because I play softball and baseball and softball is kind of alike. Another reason I chose Taveras is because when I first started softball I played all 3 outfields.
