Draining a flooded soil (swamp) changes the n-cycle both amonification and nitrification increased in both our tests. The amonification (NH4+) went from .35 to 4. also the nitrification (NO3-) went from 0 to .3. The ammonium went from 25mgl to 40mgl.

There are three uncertainties in our measurements first our tap water is contaminated by ammonium this contaminates the test tubes which then contaminates our soils. Second our color wheels can give different values depending on peoples perspectives this then changes how much was in the amonification and nitrification. Third we had a limited sample seize what this means is that we only took soil from one certain area the test would have been better if we had many different samples from many different places giving a better variety of soil and more accurate results.

What this experiment tells us that is that by having better amonification and nitrification this will grow use more food for people which is good because we have a greatly expanding population but it also shows use that it also increases water pollution.
