I have a very simple and basic purpose for joining this programme and that is to acquire more professional, practical & industry relevant knowledge and utilize it in my current profession.
As far as my current profession goes, I run a private limited company as Director. The company has three verticals : Education, Software Development and Administrative & Marketing consultancy. Under Education vertical company is successfully running 7 NIIT Ltd franchisee centres from last 7 years across major town of UP and MP (Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi and Indore)and 1 Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance (a JV of NIIT Ltd. and ICICI Bank). In software development vertical the company develops and implements small ERP packages, at present only in Healthcare industry. Third vertical of the company is into Administrative Marketing consultancy to Healthcare Industry having major clients in UP (Kanpur, Jhansi, Gorekhpur and Bareilly).
It took me almost 12 years to build a company, which can be called a small Industry. All my education from school (throughout from Kendriya Vidhyalaya ), college (Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Kanpur University), distance PGP in Hospital Administration (Annamalai University) and Small Industry Management Programme- a programme sponsored by Small Industry Development Bank of India (From IIT Kanpur) helped me to reach to this place. But from last couple of years this growth has stagnated and requires new thoughts and processes to go further.
Besides this, this program from IIM, Kolkatta would give me huge opportunity to interact with senior professors and colleagues from various industries. I was always in sales and excelled in sales management, hence this SMP course would provide me an enumerable exposure in general management which can help me shape my company to achieve my goals.
When I looked at the course content, it gave me immense confidence that I would get an excellent exposure to various new concepts
