The problem i chose to investigate is environmental rights and the protection of the earth.
Environmental rights is basically the right to have a sustainable environment. An issue worldwide is that its mainly big corporations who are causing the damage because of mass food production and being careless about what they pump into the environment.
The research questions I investigated are; How has humanity negatively affected the environment? What are the consequences if we keep destroying our planet? What can we do to lessen our impact on earth?
The type of work that I did at my social site at friends of sausal creek
The service sites that i worked at were friends of sausal creek, sutro stewards, a was we would pull out invasive plants, like plants that arent supposed to be in that area, and would replant native species. The importance of this is so that the natural ecosystems of the area would go back to the way they were since so much has changed. Their type of work serves to improve habitats mainly in the creek itself, for example they improve spawning for fish that live in the creek and they try to give them a healthy habitat.
One of the other environmental service sits i worked at was sutro stewards, and what they aim to do is restore and conserve the habitat while at the same time providing recreational opportunities. For example, we worked on the building of trails along Mount Sutro and the purpose of this is to invite more people to go and hike and see nature, since it will bring more awareness about the environment and i guess it kind of guilt trips people because they go and see how beautiful everything is and then they realize how the environment has been destroyed.
Its so important that people be aware of how they affect the environment
Because if they realize the actual impact, they’ll be pushed to make a change and thats basically what spreading awareness is.
Through my work, I have found out that humanity affects the environment in so many ways. Environmental degradation is the buildup of excessive resource depletion, it is water pollution, deforestation, air pollution, and so much more. The consequences if we keep destroying the planet are that our resources will run out, resulting in famine, no animal or human on earth will be able to survive, there will be (even more) global warming, flooding/drought, and extinction of species, just to name a few. We can lessen our impact on the earth if we all contribute to the solution with simple tasks like turning off unnecessary lights and appliances (microwaves, TVs, etc.), not leaving the water running, and reusing what you can. As long as we all work together we can make a real change, but we need to start now.
Some of the main sources of water pollution are a result from chemical disposal from industrial,
