Introduction:
Football, a 11-a-side ball game only using the feet to play except for each team’s goalkeepers who can use their hands inside their own penalty box, has been the most popular sport worldwide. Players run around the field for 90 minutes and each team can make three substitutions for the game.
For this investigation, two professional football teams’ records were compared by creating statistical measurements and analysing them. The two giants from the top-class Spanish league (La Liga), Real Madrid and Barcelona have been selected. They are undoubtedly the two best teams in the history of Spanish football, most experts even say they are the two best teams in the world. Since 2000, there has only been two teams other than Real Madrid and Barcelona that have won the league, and that is how dominating the two teams are in Spain.
Their results from the past were obtainable from online researching. Collecting and investigating with only one variable, which was the team’s total goals per season since 2000 (16 seasons), was the easiest way of comparing the two teams.
