I have wanted to be a physical therapist since high school, and have strived to become the best physical therapist that I can be. This past year I had the opportunity to work as a Physical Therapist Aide for Medford sports injury. During the time that I worked for Medford Sports Injury I had the opportunity to observe the aquatic therapy program that they offered. I witnessed total knee patients, hip replacement and various back patients go through the low impact aquatic therapy. A couple of the patients also participated in land therapy as well. As a physical therapist aide, I was introduced to different types of treatment and exercises. Being able to have hands on time with the patient when necessary or advised by the physical therapist gave me another look at what it is really like to be a physical therapist. Understanding that every patient is not the same, regardless if they had the same injury or surgery as another patient. Knowing that each individual cope’s differently and being able to understand each patient’s emotional level at every given time, as well as their pain tolerance. Sometimes the patients feel most comfortable revealing information to the physical therapist, before their primary care physician. Each physical therapist that I worked gave great insight into their profession as well as tips that they have learned throughout their experiences. I feel that working for this company was a great opportunity and it gave me a great deal of hands on help, and insight into the profession that I have chosen.
