After lunch on a Thursday in fourth grade, Wang Songshan and I played a game of cops and
robbers. As I chased him on the playground, I felt cramped in my stomach. The discomfort
slowed me down, but then I had to stop because the pain became extreme. My parents
brought to the hospital. After I opened my eyes, the news of appendicitis came like a
bolt from the blue. I had my laparoscopic surgery on Friday morning. After the operation,
the first eight hours were horrible. I could not leave the bed, feeling uncomfortable because
I had to urinate, but was unable to. After eight hours, I was able to get out of bed, but I
suffered from severe chills and shakes. I feel like I was a piece of brittle paper that would
crumple at any force and tear from any impact. After fifteen agonizing hours, I managed
to walk slowly and weakl out of the hospital. It was difficult to do anything that required
strength from my abdomen, Simple motions such as leaning over, getting out of the car, and
even sitting up in bed brought waves of pain. Doctors prescribe pain medication and ask me
to limit physical activity. Since then, I seldom took part in any track events in sports meeting
because I fear the feeling of serious pain.
In senior high school, there are only eight male students in my class so each student was
required to participate in the annual sports meeting. In my reluctance, I held off until last
to choose my event. There was only the 1,000-meter race. My classmates did not know I
had gotten appendicitis so that everyone expected me to gain a good rank. I could tell them
my clinical history in order to quit the match. Long time aloof from track, as a boy, I have
a desire to running again, but I am still filled with apprehension about the running; when I
recall the day of getting appendicitis, I cannot help shivering. Almost decade left, my body
is recovered like a normal man, but my inner world always exist a devil to let me far away
