Academic Achievements

At present, there are more pressures be put on students to pursue higher academic achievements. Some people argue that school curriculum should abolish non-academic subjects; as a result, students will pay more attention on studying academic subjects. However, I disagree that students should study both kinds of subjects at school, and in this essay, there are three reasons to explain this.
To start with, academic achievements are not the only goal to focus on, at least for long perspective; studying non-academic subjects will assist students on overall development. In other words, non-academic will add more values than not only knowledge from the textbook, but also improve students’ health physically and psychologically. For example, form my own experience, doing sports at school will vivid my leisure time and improve my health. Also, through learning ballroom dancing at school, I learn how to socialize with other students.
Moreover, sorely pursuing better academic achievements will gain pressure on students; as a result of increasing juvenile crimes. Pupils may get pressure from parents, teachers and peers; however, if they could not release that pressure efficiently, which will cause them to become criminals, such as shoplifting and drug dealing.
Lastly, pupils involved in non-academic subjects will have more opportunities to attain a job in the future. Students, engage in non-academic activities, who could gain communication and teamwork skills, time management skills and so on; therefore, these skills will help students in future’s jobs. For instance, I attended handcraft course at school, and we have to in a team to design a chair. From the lesson, I learned how to communicate with other group members, and managing time of studying academic subjects and handcraft course. Also, it adds value to my resume.
