In the novel there were a variety of characters, but the two that attracted me the most were Beatrice and Tobias. Beatrice, also known as Tris, is portrayed as a quiet girl who only wishes to become her own person and not live by her society’s expectations. During most of her life, she was okay with living the life that her parents and society had laid out for her. Once Tris learns about how strong she really is, mentally and eventually physically, she takes the first chance she gets to prove who the real Beatrice Prior is. As the novel continues on, Tris grows into her true self who is a brave, selfless, peaceful, and intelligent leader who is willing to do what it takes to save her friends, family, and all of the others who aren’t afraid to be their true selves. Tris continuously makes sacrifices for the innocents and those who chose to walk down the same path that she has chosen, she walks with them as their leader. Tobias, also known as Four, is a fighter, he was born abused and scared of family and love. As he grew older, he used physical strength to weaken his fears. He moved into a different faction to fulfill his sole need to feel powerful and belonging. Four wishes to be powerful but not in power, for this reason, he denies the invitation to become one of the leaders of the Dauntless faction and becomes an initiation observer.
