Sand of time flies. August past and here comes September. A brand new number implies a new month, and also a new challenge. The German cultural trip has become a history in my life. History is not only about dates, but also experience. What makes history? The days before the point and the moments afterwards. Everyone has 24 hours a day, no matter what and how. It is fair for every one of us. How to use the time right makes us different from each other. This summer, I take my road correctly.
At the beginning of the promotion of this activity, I was interested in German because I am studying German in the university. It is a rare opportunity for me to study abroad during summer holiday. I was looking forward to Germany as it is one of the biggest cities in Europe. I was deeply impressed by its technology and culture when I was small. That is why I would like to study German. All along the way, I admire German’s minds and creative ideas. Telephone, medicine, electronic appliances…Most of the advanced technology are invented by German. Furthermore, German is renowned for its education. Starting from kindergarten, German kids learn different from Hong Kong’s. They do not concentrated on A to Z or simple mathematics, but lives. For instance, they learn how to send a letter in post office and how police works, rather than sitting in the classroom all the time and waiting for exams. Besides science and researches, they are also famous in literature. Goethe is my favourite poet. “I lost my heart in Heidelberg.” I saw this sentence once in a book. Surprisingly, I had a chance been to this place.
The most unforgettable day is the date we arrived Heidelberg. On the first day of the journey, Fiona waited for us at the airport. It was so exciting for me to take a plane for 13 hours. I met a lot of friends at once. After arriving at Frankfurt, we finished all the road by ourselves, step by step. Undergoing through a 2-hour bus trip, finally we got to the Heidelberg University. At that time, I had no ideas at all of what’s going on. It was like all of us taking our own responsibility for the road afterwards. No one could be relied on, except our teammates. Therefore, 15 of us had to gather together and tackled with the problems that might occurred. We had become very good friends. After settling down the luggage, we were sent to the office to get our student cards and the test’s information. Then we sat in the café to wait for the student assistants to bring us to our hostels. All of us felt confused as there was no wifi all around the city and we were going to separate into different areas. So we had promised each other to meet in the café later. Some of us lived in the same area and we walked together after reaching our rooms. To be honest, we got lost at that moment, since we did not know where we were and what we were going to do. There was no one leading us or telling us what happened on earth. I was worried about whether we could get to the café on time and met our friends. Along the way, we kept asking the passengers and shouting our friends’ names loudly. I had never done these things before. Unfortunately, after we arrived at the café, not all of us reached there. Someone was missing. Maybe they did not understand the route line, but all the people get to the destination at the end. Next, we travelled to different areas in Heidelberg by bus to be familiar with the place, such as supermarkets and shopping malls.
