Hilton's Socialization Program

Hilton’s socialization program has a series of planned events that take place to strengthen the process of onboarding a new hire. The corporation realized the issues that it faces when a new hire leaves their job within the first few months and how it affects business goals. Hilton’s programs include an interview process, which is structured so questions asked in the interview are directly related to core job requirements with a focus on how willing candidates are to stay with Hilton long term. They also invest in training programs, which is an incentive to older workers that have been out of the industry but are looking for a long term and stable opportunity with little likelihood to go back to school and learn the latest technologies/skills. The onboarding process that Hilton has is incredible since they have the best supervisors and company trainers to guide and mentor new recruits to ensure they are learning all the skills necessary for the job and are up to speed. The textbook states that, “A company’s culture provides a framework that helps employees interpret and understand their everyday work experiences”, (Phillips & Gully, 2015, p#331). One of the best ways I believe Hilton ensures it’s turnover rates stay low is providing the a sense of corporate culture to new recruits by making them wear color coded badges to encourage other workers to introduce themselves and welcome them has a big and positive impacts on new recruits that feel out of place in a new environment.
Other things that Hilton could do to quickly socialize new employees is to hold weekly performance evaluations or question and answer sessions amongst new hires and management. In these sessions, new employees could sit down with their management team and discuss what issues they are facing, what they are enjoying, and what concerns they have moving forward.
