I-Deal Scan - a Brand New Payment Procedure

Idea Abstract

First of all, our group’s idea came from payment procedure. Nowadays, many people use credit card, debit card or cash to purchase things. We try to think of an idea that can make this system to be more convenient. Thus, the first idea which is scanning gate is suggested. The gates will be installed in shopping mall and every person has a device which contains their money. When they purchase things, they do not need to queue up anymore. Instead of that, they just need to walk through the gate. During that time, all the items will be scanned and the total cost of the items will be deducted from their account directly. However, after discussion, we concluded that this idea might cause health problem as radiation is needed and the target market for this idea is too big.

Thus, we change the idea to scanning door to record attendance. The target market is only focus on student instead of whole world market. Then, we realized serious problem that will be caused by this idea. When the door is set up, the students can just walk through it and their attendance will be recorded automatically. They do not need to sign anymore. But the problem is, how if the student want to go to the toilet? Their ID will be scanned again when they walk out and walk in again after went to toilet. Besides that, there might be students enter the class earlier or the class end late. In this case, how should their attendance recorded? Their names might appear in other class name list if they enter earlier or late. This may cause the system to show that the never attend the class.

Next, we change our target to payment procedure again. We planned to create an application this time. The application is used to generate a QR code for user own bank account. They can scan the code to purchase things. After scan the code, the total cost of things purchased will be deducted directly from their bank account. Then, we realized that QR code contains the serial number that can be scanned easily. Other people might use the serial number and generate the code through website. As a result, our accounts might be used by other people to purchase thing easily. The security of using this code is very low. Therefore, we found a solution by generating a different QR code in every different transaction.

Purposes

The reasons behind why we need this application is because the security in this society is decreasing. We can always see cases like robbery and snatch theft everyday in the newspaper. Robbery and snatch theft can be happen on the street, housing area and even shopping malls with lots of people. An unarmed robbery is still okay, but an armed robbery may take the lives of the victims. Snatch thieves usually aim people who are carrying handbag in a way that is easy for them to snatch or people who leaves their bags with cash
