Archaism: is the use of a form of speech or writing that is no longer current.

Bathos: a sudden ludicrous descent from exalted to ordinary matters or style in speech or writing.

Ex:

Pathos: represents an appeal to the audience's emotions.

Black Humor: designate the sub-genre of comedy and satire in which laughter arises from cynism and skepticism; grotesque or morbid humor used to express the absurdity, insensitivity, paradox, and cruelty of the modern world.

Ex:

Catharsis: describes an extreme change in emotion, occurring as the result of experiencing strong feelings (such as sorrow, fear, pity, or even laughter). It has been described as "purification" or a "purging" of such emotions.

Ex:

Antihero: a protagonist whose character is at least in some regards conspicuously contrary to that of the archetypal hero, and is in some instances its antithesis.

Ex:

Anticlimax: a figure of speech in which words, phrases, or clauses are arranged in order of increasing importance.

Ex:

Conceit: an extended metaphor with a complex logic that governs a poetic passage or entire poem. By juxtaposing, usurping and manipulating images and ideas in surprising ways, a conceit invites the reader into a more sophisticated understanding of an object of comparison.
