The New Rich and Cultural Tensions in Rural Indonesia

This article is telling us about so many things. For example “The new rich guy” or in Indonesia we can say that OKB (Orang Kaya Baru). Why those people called by The OKB? That is one of my biggest questions too. Why we should call them like that? Do the people feels so jealously with the OKB new income or they just want to make it as a joke?. But from this article the OKB means that they do a cultural lag. Cultural lag is the position when the poor people become the rich people. For example in cultural lag usually those people do some new stupid things. They will buy a lot of expensive things and pretend that they know everything. Sometimes the old rich guy will make a jokes rom them or fells so jealously.
In Sundanese, there are a lot of OKB people. They are Sariendah, those people do some cultural lag because of many things. For example like a crisis in 1998, or crisis on 2008. Why there was a crisis on 1998 or 2008?. They can happened because of the high inflation and the increasingly of the dollar to rupiahs.
There is also “The Benteng program” it is a trend for those Chinese that dominated economy. They do very good in purchasing, buy and sell something. So they can be the leader of the economy in Indonesia.
Laying the last hand on this chapter, in February 1998, Indonesia has experiencing the worst economic and political crisis in 30 years.
