Introduction

Study of commodity market with reference to Indian market of Higher income countries . the commodities such as Dairy ,Agro products and Living cost in Indian cities (Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Gurgaon , Bangalore ) and other countries ( U.S , U.A.E, U.K)  which are converted into Indian Rupee for accurate comparison and analysis

Objectives

  • To study the mechanism of the commodity market of higher income cities of India and emerging economies of the world.
  • To analyze and compare the GDP per capita of India and higher income countries of the world.
  • Understanding the lifestyle trends around the different nations
  • Comparison of Cost of living of India and Higher income countries

Scope

This report will help to study the economic growth and cost of living of different countries in comparison to India . Highlighting the Future business prospects in India by focusing on low cost of commodities and affordable standard of living . Price parity prevailing in Indian markets

Limitations

  • Commodities of India are climate or season based and lesser technology driven.
  • Analysis has been made on the basis of prices for a day. Hence inferences for long term cannot be made
  • Other  major cities of India not analyzed which may offer better clarity on prospects in India

Data Analysis

  • The cheapest in India are milk bread and potato.
  • Among Higher income counties, food prices are highest in the US. A 500g loaf of bread costs Rs 226 in New York, over seven times the price in India. 

  • Despite higher absolute prices in US and UK, food is cheaper than India. That’s because the US’s GDP per capita in 2017 was 32 times India’s. The average British citizen earns 20 times an average Indian. 
  • Petrol costs less in the US, overall travel cheaper in India 
  • India also has one of the lowest mobile internet tariffs, only Shanghai is cheaper, Rio is a shocking high of Rs 30 per minute. Among high income nations, petrol prices are cheapest in the UAE and the US. 

  • Likewise in Russia, among the world’s major oil producers, petrol is much cheaper. When it comes to a conveyance-pass or a 1-km taxi fare, India has the lowest prices — possibly because of cheaper labour. 
  • Eating out, clothes cost less in India 
    When it comes to a meal at a budget restaurant, movie tickets or a pair of branded jeans, Indian cities appear to be more affordable.
