This booming company is called Alibaba, and you can now take ownership by investing.

As we grow older it is in your best interest to spend your money on assets that will make even more money for you in the future. Listening to this speech will help you get a better understanding of IPO’s and how they affect the market and economy.
Thesis: Today, I’d like to speak with you about the Alibaba IPO, and how it affects the stock market and the economy.
Preview: In this speech, I will first explain the details of the company Alibaba and the IPO that happened on September 19, 2014. Then I will discuss how this IPO will potentially affect the market and our economy.

1. Alibaba is a company originated in China but does business globally.
- To get a grand picture of the Alibaba IPO, imagine a company the size of Amazon and EBay going public on the same day creating the largest tech company out there (EX). Alibaba is a commerce website that has hundreds of millions users and also host millions of merchants and other businesses. Alibaba is the most populated site for shopping online and conducts the most business out of any e-commerce website according to Wall Street Journal September 2014 (DEF).
i. According to Business News Daily, an e-commerce business refers to business that is done through electronic channels. E-commerce businesses can dominantly be found on the internet. The great thing about Alibaba being an e-commerce business is that since it is a website, people can shop there around the world at any time of the day. (DEF)
i. Last year according to Forbes Magazine the sales were at $248 billion, which is more than EBay and Amazon combined. (ST)
- The reason why Alibaba is compared to EBay and Amazon so much is because essentially, Alibaba is like EBay and Amazon combined.
