First, to involve employees from the non-managerial positions, is an excellent idea.
Involving labor employees to assist in the ground floor of implementing a new Performance Management System, gives the employees a feeling of worth and importance. The working together for a common goal, one which benefits all involved, is a feeling of eutopia. It brings about happier employees and managers. No more gripping and complaining about why this and that have to be evaluated, just to receive a pay raise or promotion. By working together, there is no mistaking what is required either of the employee or the manager. No misconception or assumptions of what is require to establish a pay raise or promotion. As long as there is employee involvement in creating a new set of rules, there will be happier, more productive people on board, which is a plus for the company.
Improvement to the system of rating, will establish a stronger bond and understanding for the employee and the manager. The meeting of the minds will allow the other side to identify and understand what the problems may be and how to solve them. The improvement is the working together as one functional unit; establishing a foundation of rules and regulations that everyone can be happy with. Like any company, the goal is to work together for the success and common good of all.
