Executive Summary – Recommendation for Altran
Background
Altran is a global leader in high-tech engineering consulting and innovation. Working in industries such Medical, Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Energy, Finance, Life Science, Telecoms and Railway, among others, they provide various services to find new ways to innovate. They partner with their clients and support every link in the client’s value chain.
They operate in over 20 countries globally with over 25,000 employees. The company has ambitious target for 2020, which calls for a firm push in the US market, as well as investing in research and developing spending companies. [1]
The US is regarded as a key market for Altran as they push the value of being global.
The research and Development market is vital for Altran to tap into as more research spending is being performed at much higher rates by the private sector than governments, which is evident in the United States in their high-tech sector. [2]
For Altran to achieve their goals, they need to implement an industrialized GlobalShore deliver model by 2020. This new model will align all countries with the same standards, resources and potential scalability. This model is unique and allows Altran to stand out in the marketplace. The group has already created centres in Morocco, Portugal, Romania and India. [3]
Dominique Cerutti is the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of the Altran group. He was appointed since June 2015. His first line are executive directors for the different divisions of the Altran group, of which 4 managers oversee 4 regions. There is supporting and administration staff that report directly to the executives.
For each country, there is a CEO for that local operation that report to the 4 executive region directors respectively. The company structure for each country is the same. There are 3 main branches within a local Altran company: Commercial, Project Management, and Engineering. For each of this branches there is a hierarchical structure run by an operation managers.
In addition to the 4 executive region directors, there are directors for the specialised services, such a connected service, that Altran offers its client. These teams are based in the centres on the nearshore and offshore locations.
A project can be run by one consultant or a global team and depends on the complexity of project being delivered. It is vital for Altran group that each local operation communicate effectively and work as a cohesive team to achieve the group’s strategic goals for 2020.
