Executive Summary
The purpose of this report was to analyse the current situation of Five Hole for Food and recommend the ideal option which could be followed by the owner, Richard Loat, in order to continue the growth of his company successfully.
This report has taken into account the factor of cost and mitigate risk to achieve a long term sustainability plan. Additionally, it has drawn attention to the external and internal contexts of the organisation to provide an outlook on how the company has reached its present position.
The charity, revolving around volunteer help, relied on people's enthusiasm and energy which is integral to the success of Five Hole for Food. The charity is based on hockey, and Five Hole for Food is in the business of selling an experience where anyone can get involved, no matter their age or skill level.
The owner’s personal connections and ability to garner support for his non-profit organization are what set this charity apart from others. Loat's goal in keeping operating and overhead costs at a minimum are achieved through various means.
However, despite the success of Five Hole for Food, there are strategic gaps which threaten the future operation of the organization. Therefore, it could be recommended that, in order to achieve sustain growth, the organisation should look to:
- Set itself up as a charity, as the option seems to include the least risk and the transition would be fairly easy to implement
- The funding for paid positions should primarily come from other sources including other charitable activities, fundraisers, sponsors and grants
- Delegating some of the responsible positions and duties throughout the major cities will be advantageous for long term sustainability and expanding within organization over time

Introduction
Richard Loat, founder of the non-profit organization, Five Hole for Food, begins his successful operation in 2010, in an effort to raise food donations for the Food Banks in Canada. His initial idea of organising street hockey games on a cross-Canada road trip tour using online social media and volunteers, with the goal of gaining food donations to benefit the Food Banks in various cities along his journey proves to be successful. Much to his surprise, his adventure turned out to be, not only lucrative and rewarding; it became an opportunity to raise awareness for the growing cause of people in need. The remarkable reputation of Loat and his talent for continued success in gaining help on a volunteer basis via his internet network, as well as 100% of the donations going directly to the Food Bank, leads them to find ways of perpetuating the organization.
