Exclusive summary
This report focuses on communication issues at a furniture manufacturing company, Woodcraft. The targets of the report are analyzing the prevailing issues that pertain to the field of communication in this company. What’s more, the report provides the substantive information by making surveys from factory workers. The data will be analyzed in pie charts, which reflect the attitudes of employees as well as the defects of predecessor’s communication skills. Moreover, the report offers some constructive recommendations about how Shannon can fix communication issues as well as the organization’s environment.
The report explores the relationship between junior staffs and senior staffs in Woodcraft Company via analyzing the survey. The results of the survey such as a high proportion of ‘Completely Disagree’ of ‘satisfaction of job’ can reflect the interpersonal conflict from employees to managers. Likewise, The survey shows the managers are autocrat, which means the workers hardly ever exchange ideas with their seniors and the processes of decision-making rights are deprived. Furthermore, the results show that managers are mostly satisfied with their management. The opposite attitudes from two parties can explain the reasons why the situation happened in this case study. As a consequence, the report concludes Woodcraft managers should realize the situation they faced and change organization’s communication effectively. Shannon should incorporate various communication channels into company’s growth. Finally, the report also suggests that Shannon should set up several teams and promote face-to-face communication. The teams could change the decision-making process, which gives workers opportunity to exchange information and ideas to contribute company together. In addition, the teamwork also can create the space for exchanging ideas and information from different departments. The vertical communication also should be settled up, which is instead of downward communication. It allows communication from different level and shortens the distance between both employees and employers in the company.
