Automation Software and Group Collaboration

With the inception of software technology many companies have adapted new advancements in software to aid them in their automation and group collaboration. This paper will describe the automation and group collaboration software that is used in my organization. FMC Technologies is a leading oil and gas service company; which supplies various tool packages to customers to drill and produce oil and gas all over the world. My company uses CAD (computer-automated-design) to design and draw tools and equipment used by our customers. The drawings are then entered into our database where they can be accessed by our offshore technicians and engineers so that exact measurements can be compared to hand measurements performed by employees. The software automation that the equipment drawings are entered into is Java script.

Office Automation

Java is a computer programming language created by Sun Microsystems. Java is used mainly on the Internet and uses a virtual machine which has been implemented in most browsers to translate Java into a specific application on different computer system. With most programming languages, you either compile or interpret a program so that you can run it on your computer. The Java programming language is unusual in that a program is both compiled and interpreted. The most common Java programs are applications and applets. Applications are standalone programs, such as the Hot Java browser. Applets are similar to applications, but they don't run standalone. Instead, applets adhere to a set of conventions that lets them run within a Java-compatible browser (internet-guide).
