There is a great comparison of two leadership styles and their components.
Sunrise hotel invests into talent development and great teamwork. Additionally, General Manager - Joe - with deep understanding of hotel’s culture is involved into life of his employees. As a result, long length of service, low turnover of staff and hotel’s overall excellent satisfaction rating are rewards of all efforts.
On the contrary, Brian - General Manager of Beachside Hotel - who came from world of finance and accounting, ties business to numbers but not to team potential. Of course, poor service and bad customer’s feedback are resulted from politics of Beachside Hotel. But there is luck on Brian’s side as Joe is agree to share story of his successful experience.

To improve positions, Beachside Hotel needs changes in business and in minds of all employees. Brian is the first person who must acquire all these new implementations. Brian needs to be not only great manager, but inspirational leader as his team is in critical situation without shared values. Great work on changing of perception is required as Brian worked in different sector of the business and now has different (narrow) business vision. Culture of the company is a key components for new plan. It would be great if Brian meets every employee personally and listen his/her opinions and ideas. And such changes must be started from Mary - HR practitioner, as she was promoted without any experience in talent management. Mary was not successful in guest relationship position and without proper learning she can’t handle corporate culture to staff.
