Along with operating a business, a company is legal and responsible entity which can have a negative impact on many and effect the bottom line. (www.smal business.chron.com) Companies have both, a legal and moral obligation to offer non-discriminatory practices. According to the text, ultimately, a company’s decision can alter lives of many, including members of immediate society, customers, employees,stockholders,creditors and business alliances (Lawerence & Weber, 2014). How can a highly profitable business return a favor and offer thanks to its stakeholders without jeopardizing potential revenue, pride, reputation and overall customer satisfaction?

  SunCal  and Disney are at a tug of war and face extreme challenges to overcome this obstacle of land dispute located outside of Disney’s compound. Both companies have voiced their grievances on who should prevail, SunCal, who wanted to purchase land to develop housing at an affordable rate for locals, or Disney, who owns acres of land, which may be utilized in future for expansion, but also finds the thought of an apartment building   lesser of a magical Disney experience. The dispute was futile as it ended in a deadlock decision.

 In comparison, the market and nonmarket stakeholders involved in this scenario are important as the other. Non-market stakeholders include all persons and establishments involuntarily impacted by the corporation. Market stakeholders, on the other hand, are those who voluntarily do business with the company. Suppliers, consumers, shareholders, lenders and employees are market stakeholders.With that being said, Disney who’s yearly gross equals billions of dollars worldwide, and employs a great number of staff residing near Anaheim, has their reputation at stake, if at all the choices they make regarding the land dispute are deemed incorrect or immoral by members of society. As a business which creates magical moments for families and Disney enthusiasts , and employs many, one would hope that a business of such magnitude would give back to those that makes Disney a success. Unfortunately, Disney did the exact opposite and fought to protect the customer illusion versus providing affordable housing for employees and other Anaheim residence to call home.
