The difference between web site and online social networks; is that web pages are just based of content where social networks are base on people. There are a number of social network site such as Facebook, Myspace, Twitter; these are your everyday social networks. Professionals use these sites as well to contact people but the main for these normal social network sites is to communicate with friends and family. Now some professionals use these sites because that is what they prefer. One of the largest social networking sites is Facebook, this site is used by lawyers, doctors, and so forth. The characteristics of these sites are; user-based, interaction, community driven, relationships, and emotional content.
What people seek when they participate in these social networking site; is mainly to keep in touch with friends and family, people also get the opportunity to meet new people that they would never ever meet as well as they are getting some type of experience when they interact with other peoples post.
I use Facebook to communicate with other people across the United States; it helps me keep in touch with friends and family. I did use myspace for the longest time, but each social media that we use go by trends sometimes. These social Medias are like fashion it seems and so they change from time to time.
Facebook has gotten a bad rap for being one of the top reasons for divorce, and I can see how that could happen. It is easy to find people that you have lost contact with and sometimes old flames are sparked and relationships rekindle. It’s a good way to catch your other half saying or doing things wrong or inappropriate; which can get you into trouble, with friends or family. There are other social Medias that have also caused problems in relationship like; World of Warcraft it has over 8 million people worldwide on it. Meeting people on these sites is easy; it’s fun but can be dangerous.
