The Business of Energy
Abstract:
As the science is "Progressing" we are getting new technology and consequently new equipment in terms of machinery, gadgets etc. in addition the improvement of medical technology reduced the death rate and increased the birth rate. Due to all these and many other factors the demand for energy is increasing day by day, consequently the resources are getting scarce as more we are consuming. We need to look for alternative ways to produce energy rather than fossil fuel. This is important for not only US but for all the humankind. There are many alternatives, which can be used instead of fossil fuel. Several of these will be discussed further.
Solar Energy:
Sun as an what we could say is a source of energy that can always be a source of our energy until it fails to exist which will most likely outlive our carbon resources here on earth. In solar energy we capture the energy from direct sunlight through the use of solar cells, we can always assume that this option can be taken as the best alternative against fossil fuels. It's is eco-friendly and sustainable however still, "Sunlight is a ubiquitous form of energy, but not as yet an economic one."1
So to use this energy as an alternative we have to make an efficient and economic technique to collect the sunlight to complete our needs.
Hydropower and Tidal wave power:
Except using fossil fuels to produce energy it is also possible to use Hydropower whenever possible. The only drawback of this procedure is that in every part of the world it's not possible to produce energy by this method due to various restriction like climate, availability of water etc.
Similarly the countries near ocean can use the mighty power of tides to create energy.
"Tidal energy is a renewable source of electricity which does not result in the emission of gases responsible for global warming or acid rain associated with fossil fuel generated electricity"2 So if controlled and maintained properly, tidal power can be a great alternative for the fossil fuels.
Geo-thermal Energy:
"Heat from the earth can be used as an energy source in many ways, from large and complex power stations to small and relatively simple pumping systems. This heat energy, known as geothermal energy, can be found almost anywhere—as far away as remote deep wells in Indonesia and as close as the dirt in our backyards."3 Using the thermal energy of the Earth we can create energy. Good news is that US and many other
