Introduction
This business plan describes a proposed business venture to expend Buster's from a one-store to a two-store operation. Buster's is a small retail store located in the lobby of a large office building, selling sundry items, grab and go food items, and small gifts to building occupants. Short term goal is to open a second store in a newly built high rise several blocks from the Buster's operation. Ultimately , our goal is to expand Buster's into a chain of 10-15 successful stores. These stores would be located in metropolitan areas in and surrounding the Greater Puget Sound area, in Washington State. Buster's target customer is building tenants as well as walk in customers.
The current Busters Store includes a variety of imported as well as locally produced items. The proposed new store location will have inventory of only made in America items, as well as handmade specialty items to attract customers unique to the new building.
Organization and Key Players:
Tracy Mals is the owner and principal manager of the current Buster's storefront. Two part time clerks are employed and working 30 hours per week, with Ms. Mals working 50 hours per week. The proposed store will be managed by Ms. Mals with one of the current employees being promoted to manager of the current Busters.
Buster's owner, Ms Mals, has a MBA from Washington State University, with a minor in e-Commerce, graduating in the top 10% of her class. The current Busters store has been in business 3 years and has successfully reached the point of profitability.
As owner, Ms. Mals will have full responsibility for all day to day operations for the new store as well as oversight on the manager and financial management of the current store, and final decisions on personnel actions..
Busters is a Sole Proprietorship. An external law office will be utilized when or as legal issues arise.
Buster's Management Team will consist of owner, Tracy Mals, and Jennifer Metzer current Senior employee at Buster's I. Ms. Metzer, is currently pursuing a MBA in Financial Management and will be promoted to Manager upon the opening of Busters II.
Buster's I currently has two employees, the Senior Sales Clerk will be promoted to manager of this store. This clerk will be promoted to manager, and a second clerk will be hired to backfill behind Ms. Metzer. Employee positions are advertised through the local newspaper as well as the local college bulletin boards and buiness school.
The new space for Busters II is build to suit, and contractors will only be utilized to complete aisles, shelving and cosmetic changes.
