Background
Cam is a leading organization in Canada offering top quality and innovative products at very low cost. Company has good market recognition and is very active in highly competitive market. Company has got customers mainly in US who are becoming increasingly demanding; in order to meet their expectations organization has made intense effort to improve plant efficiency.
On the process of improving efficiency the organization has found that their working conditions have a major impact on their workforce affecting their overall productivity.
Problem Analysis and Implications
In order to sustain and meet the need of its customers the company is relying on a strong and aligned management team. Management has noticed a change in work environment.
Primary problem at the work environment is that the employees are not aware of the organizations objectives and culture which points to poor management in the organization. This lack of knowledge among the employees has led to poor performance of their team and it also exhibits that the employees are not motivated enough that will help the organization to achieve their goal.
Primary problem of the organization has occurred due to inefficiency of the Management. It has been noticed that without a motivated and skilled workforce, and devoid of gains in employee productivity, organizations eventually stagnate and fail. It is the duty of the Management to help the organization to achieve its primary organizational objectives and current motive.
There is lack of cooperation, teamwork and knowledge sharing among the employees. This exhibits counterproductive behavior among the employees having the potential to directly or indirectly harm the organizations by work avoidance and work sabotage (doing work incorrectly). Employees also pay little attention to the rules. All these problems are the symptoms or indicators of the problem discussed above (Primary Problem).
These secondary problems are due to lack of support from within the organization. Hence, in my view everyone is involved including Management, HRM (Human Resource Managers), and the employees at all levels. The management is responsible for effective functioning of the organization. It is the role of HRM to ensure that job description perfectly record the primary responsibilities, qualifications and terms for each role in their group. The employees or workers at different level should ensure that they contribute towards overall productivity.
Impact on the organization
Inefficiency within the organization affects the employee morale and hence the productivity decreases. Bad management and layoffs affects the performance of the employee resulting in pessimism, reduced productivity, lower profits
