1- What are the different jobs mentioned in the video case?
1- Trading assistant (at a full service brokerage firm): responsible for doing profit and loss analysis to identify profits and losses of the prior day, evaluate the unrealized profits and losses for open positions as well as clearing trades.
What I like best about my job is the exhilaration and excitement it gives when you buy or sell a bond, see where the market is going and how much profit you are going to make, it is a kind of mystery until it is done.
2- Trader: dealing with brokers on a daily basis trying to get them the best execution for their stock orders.
What I like best about my job is that I have the market at my fingertips and see everything about stocks and bonds. It is interesting and a lot of fun ( at beg)‘There are days when the market is busy, the day is full of energy and it goes by very quickly you are on the phone all day long and there are no breaks. And there are days when things are very slow usually around the holidays; those are the days where you do a lot of crossword puzzles’
3- Corporate financial Analyst: Receives all the schedules coming from different divisions in different countries and putting them into consolidated form that the company can use. Some of those include looking at the exchange rates also at capital expenditures and authorizations and various other financial statistics.
What I like best about my job is seeing that finance is incorporated in every aspect of the business whether you are looking at marketing or product development or just using financial statistic, finance is very important.
4- Originator: originates commercial mortgage loans that can ultimately be sold on the market, and put together in a pool to be sold as bonds or mortgage backed securities.
What I like best about my job is that it offers lots of variety; I am partly on my desk and partly on the field. I get on the road one or two days a week looking at different properties meeting different people: borrowers, different types of real estate and meeting different bankers, going all over the country trying to understand the market where real estate is located, the rest of the days I will be working on my desk analyzing different projects working with computer spreadsheets.
