Strategy 1: Give counseling to Moala and Salome; and suspend Salome for three months.
According to the case study, Brett Taylor should send Moala and Salome for a counseling session. The counseling session is important for Moala to make sure that he knows his responsibilities as a supervisor. Moala should realize that he is the asset of the FIJIAN company and Brett Taylor should care for him and really appreciate him. As for Salome, the counseling session is a way to improve his skills and to learn more about ethics at work.
Besides that, Brett Taylor should suspend Salome three month from work. By suspending Salome from work, Brett Taylor hopes that Salome would regret his unethical actions and will change his behavior during the three months suspension. Besides that, it is also as one of the reminders for other employees in order for them to not repeat the same mistakes. Unethical behaviors should be stopped because it would harm the company and can lower down the number of loyal customers as they lose trust to the company.
Strategy 2: relocate Salome to the other department
The second alternative way is by relocating Salome to the other department. According to the case study, Salome is a trainee waitress at the Lagoon Terrance Restaurant, a 24-hour coffee house of the Fijian company. By changing him from restaurant department to housekeeping department for example, it can make sure that the deceptive behavior will not occur once again. Besides that, Moala also can start afresh by become more responsible and more focus about his work.
Strategy 3: terminate Salome contract.
The third alternative strategy is by terminating Salome contract. Although what Salome did was for the sake of virtue, but it is still a mistake and would jeopardize the company in the future. It is a very serious matter because Salome takes the customer's money. This can bring bad image to the company. Moreover, Brett Taylor takes seriously about the staff behavior towards their customers.
