Provide a short reflection upon the Centurion Media Case based upon (i) your previous decision grid and short explaination and (ii) your reading of the epilogue. Did the epilogue surprise you? If so how? Did reading the epilogue change your view of the case? Anything else?
Reilly should look more into the contract before approving it. He doesn’t know what’s going on behind his back. He should spend more time discussing the contract with his employees. He seems to trust Fowler too much. He is easily convinced by Fowler’s words because they were college buddies and Fowler had a successful career in Northpark. Reilly believes that Fowler will also lead Centurion Cable to success, so he is often persuaded by Fowler. Reilly purchased 25 percent of Nothpark’s common stock after Fowler’s recommendation, even though he knows that Fowler is a person of interest. As ex-CEO of Northpark and a board of director of Northpark, Fowler shouldn’t have recommended the purchase to Reilly. This is unethical because it’s related to Fowler’s self-interest. Reilly should have noticed what was wrong with this, but he was too focused on the profit that it will bring. Reilly is too passive. Instead of listening to just Fowler’s recommendations, he should participate in the contract review meeting and weigh both sides of the argument. He would see a clearer picture of Fowler and learn what’s best for his company. This is something absolutely wrong about the contract he just didn't notice beforehand.
