Assessment:
Well, it mainly tells about that India wants to gain the profits through investing in Africa, while also competing with China. Actually, China has been cooperated with Africa for so many years, and in recent years, China has made the second investing plan in Africa in hope to stimulate the economy of both parties. However, India has just planned for such investing recently. What’s more, it is also a decade behind China, so to say compete with China, it still has a far way to go through.
As these two big developing countries wants to invest in Africa, it is worth considering the reason. I do not think it is a kind of colony as the European did in 18th century. But it did benefit China in resources and politics in these years. As Africa is the only underdeveloped region so far we know, so the natural resources and lower lab costs are very attractive. Moreover, African countries could help developing countries in politics, such as supporting China in the United Union. So it not only benefit Africa, but also will benefit China and India.
Analysis:
The report just mentioned some detailed things that India has contacted with Africa. And through comparing the investments and current domestic situation of India and Chia, the author aims to analyze the future of its competition with China. Though I think during the competition, Africa will benefit most. More money invested and more advanced technological people come to Africa to help develop a new continent, no doubt Africa will continue growing at a fast speed in the future years.
Action:
There is no doubt it is a good idea for India to invest in Africa, not only to compete with China, but also to gain profits itself. However, during the development or investment, there is some points that need to be carefully treated or considered. One is the environment, which is now worried by most people. As can be seen in China, the cost of developing so quickly without focusing on environment is the living places having been polluted. In recent days, some cities in China, such as Shanghai, have been through serious haze. People could not see things 10 meters far away. So environmental-friendly development must be taken in Africa in order to keep it from being second China. The second point is the labor force. As it is already the 21st century, no exploiting cheap labor would be happened any more. African people are also human being, not slaves, they also have rights, although maybe they lack of knowledge.
