The National Football League or NFL, one of the largest sports associations in the United States. Recently one of the top performing teams, the New England Patriots have come under scrutiny for bending the rules. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the Patriots have a past with bending the rules or flirting with the line between legal and illegal actions.
Ethics & Credibility
The Patriots won a divisional playoff game that set them up for a shot at the super bowl, and in turn became super bowl champions. However, after wining the divisional playoff games it was found that their footballs were under the psi level that was measured prior to the game starting. This raised the question of foul play and caused speculation and distrust toward the Patriot team. An independent investigator was hired to research the issue and did not find definitive proof of foul play (Wells V. Theodore, personal communication, May 6, 2015).
The Wells report as it is being referred to is under heavy scrutiny by the Patriot team as while there was no definitive proof it did point to specific individuals knowing about the footballs being under inflated. Most notably Tom Brady the star quarterback of the New England Patriots. These allegations lead to Tom Brady being suspended for the first four games of the regular season. Currently the Patriots are partition this suspension as it has impact to there playoff chances in the 2016 year.
