EXAMPLE 1:
When working fast food it is very important to use communication. When we run low on
supplies, we need to either buy it or try to borrow it from another store. Here is scenario where
“lack” of communication was used and we went all day with not being able to sanitize our
dishes.
1. Who was the sender? I was the sender in this situation
2. Who was the receiver? My General Manager
3. What was the message? We were out of Sanitizer for our dishes.
4. What channel was used to send the message? Face-to-Face Communication was used
with this.
5. What was the misunderstanding that occurred? The other shift leaders knew we were out
and didn’t borrow any from the other stores.
6. How could the misunderstanding have been avoided? Should have went directly to her
instead of who I went to. Therefore, I would have known that we would have got some
Sanitizer from another store until our truck ran.
This activity I did, I learned that there is so much communication being used in our daily
life’s. At work we use communication as a way of letting others know what is going on. Either
by verbal, notes, posters to let others know what is going on. In this activity I chose, to show
lack of communication. Where a situation occurred and could have been avoided, if only the
proper steps were taken.
The main cause of this misunderstanding was that I went to the opening manager and let her
know that we were out of sanitizer. She should have at that point got a hold of our General
Manger and let her know. She chose other wise and we went
