I am writing this letter in response to your advertisement on McGill.ca for the communications specialist job opening. I am very interested in this opportunity to work with McGill, a large institution that has both the academic and professional focus that will enable me to share my diverse expertise and gain new experiences. I am presently a professor at the University of Toronto, and I am ready to move forward with my career as of May 1.
Thanks to my experience as a communication professional in the education, government, and private sectors, I believe that I would be able to enrich the department's work with my new, creative and non-traditional methods. Living and working in different countries with different cultures has given me the privilege of being able to interact with a variety of people and situations, which is needed in a diverse university like McGill where experts are attracted from all over the globe.
The areas of communication in which I have the most experience are media relations, client management, business development, and experience managing staff, including recruitment and assessment, budgeting and campaign communication to internal and external stakeholders as well as event planning, implementation and evaluation. I have also volunteered with an array of community organizations to help them with their needs.
