CURRENT TECHNOLOGIES IN MILITARY SECTOR
USA in recent years has made scientific breakthroughs and technological advancements in its military sector. There have been some major reasons for the military to invent advanced weapon systems now following the terrorism threat and tension building in North Korea and Iran. Currently, US military has been working on multiple projects so as to take their military strength and warfare to a higher level.
Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP)
US military developed the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) to support its military operations. MOP is a gigantic bunker-buster-bomb and is used to destroy deep installations. This bomb weighs about 15 tons (30,000 pounds). It carries 5,300 pounds of explosives inside the steel bomb casing. This is in fact the largest non-nuclear, conventional bomb used by US. Its main purpose is to destroy deeply buried military institutions as it is capable of penetrating concrete till 200 feet before detonating.

Electronic Warfare
Communication between combat arms is very essential for the success of mission on the modern battlefield. For the same, US has developed a way by which they are able to target specific areas and disable enemy communication resources while their electronics remain undisturbed. These weapons are small enough for a soldier to carry on the battle ground. This technology is helpful for the allies by dominating radio communication. It is also used to jam any signal coming from an electronic device (mobile) which is being used to trigger roadside bombs. Electronic warfare helped in creating electro-magnetic pulse grenades and small signal-jammers, being used on various aircrafts.
The Vulcan Program
DARPA has worked and built an engine that propels a hypersonic jet and increase their speeds to that of Mach 4 and faster. This project is labeled as the Vulcan Program. Air support provides a major factor in any military warfare. With a jet that flies at these speeds, enemy can be engaged sooner and intelligence gathered from missions is delivered much quicker. This can result in ground troops having the oppurtunity to launch strikes in enemy’s territory at an earlier date to catch them off guard.
