The fact that conflict exists in every work relationship is inevitable it is a fact of life, however it only makes things harder when you are related. If conflict is not handled effectively it can be damaging to the family member and the team or organization. Don’t try to interpret your family members feelings on the matter at hand. This can cause the family member to disengage from their work and send the person into a downward spiral. A good way to look at the situation is to look at the in a positive way. When you find yourself in a controversial situation: Listen to the situation, identify the issue, remain flexible, and clarify how you are feeling. Try to have an open mind about a resolution. Listening to where the other person is coming from before defending your own position. When you are very passionate about what the situation is with a family member, and it is in a work environment you have to make that extra effort to remember to compromise and collaborate with your family member for the resolution of the problem. Remember to take on the problem and not avoid the issue at hand. Make sure that discussion is non- confrontational and courteous and the focus is on the issue rather than on individuals feelings. By resolving conflict successfully, you can solve many problems at work and in your personal life. Be open to the idea that another position may exist to solving the conflict. Use active listening to ensure you hear and understand the situation and the prospective the information is delivered.
When a conflict is resolved family members can develop a stronger and mutual respect for each other. Settling disagreements or differences of opinion takes hard work and can also take time. They also create a new faith in each other’s ability to work together. When this is achieved solutions arise and conflict can often be resolved effectively. One of the most important facts you have to remember dealing with conflict and resolution with in the family is your relationship with your family is far more important than “winning an argument” or “ being right”.
The usage of critical thinking, with respect to arguments, involves two type of logic; deductive and inductive. A deductive argument is an argument such that the premises provide (or appear to provide) complete support for the conclusion. An inductive argument is an argument such that the premises provide (or appear to provide) some degree of support (but less than complete support) for the conclusion. This is where the usage of fallacies comes in. A fallacy is, very generally, an error in reasoning. This differs from a factual error, which is simply being wrong about the facts. To be more specific, a fallacy is an "argument" in which the premises given for the conclusion do not provide the needed degree of support.
