Drexler's World Famous Bar-B-Que has a traditional heritage. The restaurant started has a family business and has maintained the down home family feels for over 60 years. Adapting the simple breakdown of responsibilities, James Drexler and Eunice Scott have generated enough business to expand the restaurant. James handles all of the meats, and Eunice handles all of the side items. Being a product of the neighborhood, there is always continual support. However having a famous son work will always be beneficial to the business.

When discussing a business this small and intimate, the values of their interactions with neighbors and customers are vital to their success. Businesses like Drexler's World Famous Bar-B-Que win customers over by making their visit very personal and inviting. Greeting everyone with a smile and referring to them by first name offers excites consumers. Eunice really is the backbone to their customer retention. She continually inquiries about the food for old and new customers, is at the restaurant everyday, and shares her faith in God is favored by a Christian community. Also supporting local groups and organizations keeps a great rapport with neighborhood customers. Sticking to these core values have not only secured local customers, but encourage customers from other pars of Houston to give the restaurant a try. With the restaurant being located in a notoriously unsafe neighborhood, to attract non-residence of the 3rd ward is significant.

With a good sense of their environment, Drexler's has a very effective organization. Even with the expansion of the building, they continued to keep things simple. The family is still the primary owners of the business. If they are in a rough neighborhood, closing at 6:00pm may be the best idea. Overhead remains low because of closing at 6:00pm and not opening on Sundays or Mondays. In addition, there has not been an expansion in the menu.
